The Bones about Donald Trump

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Bones from the 19th century have been found near a site being developed by Donald Trump and his partners.  The site is on the western edge of Manhattan’s SoHo and Trump etal plan to build a 411-room condominium tower.  However, the development has been rejected a third time by the New York authorities as it failed to meet zoning requirements for the area.

Have you read Trump 101?  To understand the thinking behind the man visit http://www.dwyersbookstore.com.au/title/trump_1012 to buy this book.

Check out the latest book about Donald Trump, coming out March 2007 called Trump University Entrepreneurship 101, by Mike Gordon (Foreward by Donald Trump).  The book energises readers to take the enterpreneurial experience and deals with the challenges and issues you will find along the way.  It’s about “How to turn your idea into a Money Machine”!

How do you know what a book is going to be like?

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Many readers can be disappointed with their book purchases.

How can you determine what a book will be like before you make a purchase

A good book is the cheapest form of entertainment and enjoyment - just a few dollars, is hardly a lot of money to spend on a powerful narrative that might stay with you for many years.  And remember, you can spread the “good word” by lending a good book to your friends and family.  Every time you lend a novel you get an extra benefit on your initial modest investment, by spreading enjoyment and interest to others!!  But, if you buy a book that is not in line with your tastes and interests, your purchase becomes an expensive one!  A book not to your tastes, is like a fish that has been sitting in the sun for 24 hours - it could have been sit there for a week…….and, no matter how attractive it looks, it’s just not to your tastes (and you won’t recommend it to anyone either!).

So how do you tell whether a book is going to be up-to-scratch before you make your purchase:

- read the back cover?  unfortunately publishers are in the business of selling books, so they don’t like to say bad things about them, especially on the cover!

- buy what is on special? in a physical store, often this is the “fish” (books) that have been sitting around for 24 hours - or much longer!!!

- ask the sales person at your local bookstore? Some salespeople make a habit of reading many of the titles they sell and are great at providing advice and recommendations to your interests; others simply sit behind the counter and help you with your transaction.

At Dwyer’s Bookstore, the most important part of our business success, has been to have staff helping our customers make their selection, where they need assistance - and often it’s about suggesting that a book a customer is interested in, might not suit them, as much as it is recommending a book to purchase that will suit them.

There are just too many books in the world to read, review and rate - so each month we just turn our attention to a special selection in each category that we think may interest our customers.  And by the way, we are a completely INDEPENDENT bookstore - so we are free to review, rate and recommend titles based on our judgement and expertise based on what we (and our customers) experienced when reading the books.

Now our website www.dwyersbookstore.com.au has all the independent reviews and ratings that you would come across if you have visited our store.  We don’t pretend to know everything there is to know about books, but it is our business to provide you an honest and transparent views about how a book will read from the moment you opent he front cover and start to turn the pages.  And there is even a telephone hotline to discuss your requirements directly with our staff if you need to.

Making a book purchase without research can be disappointing, reading made easy at www.dwyersbookstore.com.au is almost always relaxing!
