Rated 8 / 10Brooks befriended Queen Noor of Jordan as well as nomadic desert women and they welcomed the opportunity to discuss the disparities between fact and fiction regarding their Muslim lifestyle, however sometimes, their silence revealed more than words. Employment, marriage, female circumcision, physical mobility and education are discussed quite vividly with the personality and energy of her subjects captivating the reader. She then draws comparisions between contemporary restrictions on women with Muhammad's more tolerant appreciation of his wives.
